Now that we‘ve grasped the importance of reaching crowd students with the gospel
and the challenge of getting church students assimilated through fellowship, let’s go
deeper with discipleship.
Terry's EKG

1. My definition of fellowship would be simular to what Gale Brown teaches us. Meeting people at there point of need and sharing Christ. For students its a relationship built on trust through Jesus. Jesus built relationships through fellowship and meet people with there need
2. Biblical fellowship is essential because it helps aid the descipleship process. The new believer will have questions and the fact that you fellowship with him will help answere some of his questions when he asks you.
3. The top three steps would be as follows
1. A phone call after the decision is made
2. Personally deliver a new believers packet such as survival kit ect.
3. Then a time you can meet again to discuss questions he might have on Christianity
4. I think on Sunday mornings through sunday school is the best. Maybe on sunday evenings, depends on what is planed during those times
5. Lecture type teaching is more structured on presenting something through education. With this system many people cannot ask questions during the lecture. This disregards all types of fellowship time and makes it hard for the student to ask questions.
D-Team
1. Relationship: The condition or fact of being related; connection or association.
2. Disciple: One who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another.
3. Patience: an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay

Bone's personal ekg:
1. Fellowship is believers gathering together in worship, prayer, Bible study, one on one, etc., to grow, share and encourage one another in our walk with Christ.
2. Biblical fellowship help new believers to grow in knowledge and experience in their walk with Christ.
3. Top 3 steps involved in follow-up:
A. Confirm one's decision to follow Christ.
B. Guide them through new believers class and to follow Christ in baptism.
C. Be sure they are brought into the fellowship to grow spiritually.
4. Sunday School and Worship
5. Lecture style doesn't necessarily allow Chritians to share with each other on a personal one on one relationship.
Bone's D-team assignment
Applications for the church today:
1. Fellowship must be a major part of the local church.
2. Churches should be intentional in bringing new believers into the local fellowship to help them grow. They must be "plugged in".
3. Leaders (pastors, youth pastors, etc.) should emphasize the importance of fellowship together ouside the "church" setting.
4. Christians must understand that fellowship is more than just eating together, its growing together spiritually.
Comments:
Kerry, I believe interaction is a must also to help each other grow spiritually.
Chris G., I like how you related fellowship with Gayle Brown's class, good observation of how the 2 relate.

Matt's EKG
1.Fellowship is the body of Christ meeting together for worship, ministering, helping one another, growing and living life together as believers in Jesus. Weep with those who weep. Rejoice with those who rejoice.
2.New believers need to be around other Christians so they can see that the Christian life is a life of freedom in Christ, a life of joy and peace and hope. They need a strong support group. This goes for all believers, not just new believers.
3.Sit down with the individual and explain what it means to be a follower of Jesus. b.Explain to them ways that Satan will try to come against them now c.Help them plan to follow up in baptism and get in a discipleship training class and link them up with another 2 or 3 strong believers to mentor them.
4.Sunday nights are a good time for felloship. I think the majority of your "crowd" group are goin to be there on Wednesdays. I have noticed on Sunday nights that the core is usually there. This is a good time for them to talk about their struggles and prepare for the coming week.
5.Fellowship has the idea of people talking to one another and sharing with one another. Lecture is one person talking and the rest doing the listening.
Matt's D-Team Assignment
1.Why is it a good idea to have a baptism party?
2.How would you create a good environment for the youth to grow?
3.What might be a good fellowship agenda for your youth?
4.What is the primary difference between fellowship and discipleship?

Comments:
I like Chris Rathbone's answers to D-Team questions 2 and 4. We must all be "plugged in" We need one another! Fellowship is so much more than just eating! Good!
Chris G. I like your point from Gale Brown's class. We need to teach these young people that Jesus is there with them through every need. They can see that being modeled in our lives as we meet with them and talk with them, living the everyday Christian life.

1. getting to know those in your church (members) and visitors and non members

4. sunday school
5. because it is not the way Jesus taught
Posted by: Bert on 301 The Heart of Youth Ministry | February 18, 2009 at 09:52 PM
1.I would define fellowship as the interaction between believers.
2.It helps in growth and maturity, and allows us to share our concerns with other Christian as the Bible teaches.
3. The top three steps in follow up are: intial contact after conversion, introduction to a new members class, and Baptism
4.Sunday school and Bible study
5.Because it doesn't promote relationship building on a personal level

1) Being in the company of people who you share common beliefs with. In Christianity this is necessary for growth and unity in the church.
2) By fellowshipping with fellow believers and growing closer to them it brings in the important aspect of accountability with one another.
3) Talking; talking about what’s going on in each others lives, talking about what’s going on in each others Bible reading and devotion, and talking about what’s going on each others prayer lives.
4) Sunday school
5) Leaves no room for feedback
D-Team #2

If so, how does fellowship help in new believer’s growth?
Should new Believers be held accountable, or as accountable as a "seasoned" believer?
