Sick! Got a hold of a bad tamale or it is a chemical reaction of difference hot sauces in my belly. Of course the day my stomach is turning is the travel day, five hours. It was raining and cloudy so the views where disturbed of course you can’t see much with your head in your hands trying not to puke anyway.
Had time to hear Pastor Israel’s heart and clarify his vision. A greater impact will be made by “supporting” men like him instead of “helping” men like him.
At one of the stops, Trooper Stout informed me that last week he stopped a man for speeding that just lost his son. The man could not quit bragging about how Ryan D had ministered to his family during this death. God has got his hand on Ryan D…
Couple of cultural points about Hondurian people: First, the men in most villages go to the US to find work. They then send the money back to the villages and families. The villages with the most resources, more modern churches etc… have no mento help serve and lead those churches. Second, the kids go to school until 6th grade and then they go to bigger cities to find work in sweat shops. In these cities they are pulled into drugs, sex trade etc… Horrible cycle that needs to be broken.
The men that leave the villages for US will send money back villages until they establish a family in the US. The money then dries up in the villages. Israel estimated that happens about 80% of the time.
Just found banana in my bag from 3 days ago. To say it was ripe would be an understatement, nasty.
Did I mention my stomach because it is reminding me not to leave him out. Weird feeling…
In the village of Providence there are 12 houses that need “eco” stoves. Providence?
The pastor and I spoke about bible translations. The Spanish one he likes and recommends is the Reina Valera 1960. There is a need for 4 study Bibles he can give to new pastors.
Learned of an exploding cult down here called the “G12.” It is a type of pseudo spiritual, pyramid scheme. Each man gets 12 more men and they do a weekend “encounter.” Crazy cult stuff…
The five hour drive was worth the drive! After a hard week we pulled into an incredible resort style hotel. Envision Gillian’s Island meets the Weston, dinner then bed… Going to Myan ruins tomorrow?
