Technology is not a fad. It is here to stay. More and more people are using personal computers and cell phones in their everyday life. As churches we must ask ourselves some questions. How do we handle technology? What do we do? I believe there are several responses. One, the church can look the other way when it comes to technology. As people start using electronics just pretend it isn't happening. Two, condemn it. We could just shout that people need to stay away from anything with a plug. Three, hug it. Change everything we are doing, forgetting the theological and focus on the technological. Four, leverage it. Take technology and plug it into our current purpose and programs to better communicate the Gospel. I like the last option. I don't think we need to pretend people aren't using tech. I don't believe we need to preach abstinence from tech. I also don't believe we should allow technology to be a distraction or to give us direction. What I do believe is that God has given us a "megaphone" to leverage the greatest story ever told. We need to use technology to spread the Good News of Jesus!
